Different Stages…One Plant

IMG_20181009_180356_265

Looking out into the garden at this banana tree I saw leaves reflecting growth, decay and death.

We can learn so much from nature.

There is beauty in all stages – all stages necessary.

We Need to Have a Bias for ACTION!

FB_IMG_1539006741630

Today I was thinking about how many good ideas are shared using social media platforms.

I’ve seen people make great suggestions, say things that provoke…agitate…and then those ideas die because no one is acting ON them.

We need to focus on our actions.

I know you are afraid to take action. I am too! It’s so much easier to TALK. But TALK does nothing for us if that’s all we’re doing.

In Steven Pressfield’s book The War of Art he says

…there is a malignant presence that exists to block you. It rises up against you to stop you from doing what you most need to do.

He calls this force Resistance.

The more important a call or action is to our soul’s evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it.

Resistance is a beast, but don’t let it win!

Let’s not have our ideas die in Social Media graves!

Doing Sunday Write

20181007_134513

Haven’t been in this space for a while! Writing today, and oh – what joy!

Sunday groove…red wine…words flowing…BLISS!

Melba Moore, The Other Side of the Rainbow, playing in the background…

Now someone will try to bring you down
They’ll say dreams are for those who sleep
Oh, but dreamers possess
Great powers untold
They build worlds others cannot see

Remember if you don’t follow your dreams
You’ll never know
What’s on the other side of the rainbow
You’ll never know
What you will find at the top of the mountain

You’ll never know…where you will be at your journey’s end.

We won’t know yet that’s no reason to not continue walking and doing and making and creating your magic! ❤

Gratitude

20181005_091237

I am learning more and more how important it is to trust that you will be provided for. When I was probably ten years old, I was asked to read this famous passage on a show that was celebrating Easter.

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin.

Two verses earlier at Matthew 6:26 Jesus told his followers not to worry about food, because even the birds are provided for by God.

This morning I was contemplating what to eat for breakfast and then heard a neighbor by the front gate.

Life is full of surprises that sometimes comes in the form of sada roti and roast pumpkin.

I am truly grateful.

Flowering Plants

My Granny

20181005_121025

Natural gardeners, we’ve always had flowering plants and have always planted food. My grandmother loved this plant – the old maid. Not sure where that name came from, if anyone knows please tell me. I feel like renaming the plant after her – Granny Ivy. ❤

Common name: Madagascar Periwinkle, Rose Periwinkle, Old Maid, Chula, Chatas, Vinca

Downward Dog

fuzzypugsFuzzy greets me with a downward dog pose most mornings.

Dogs know what’s best…a nice long stretch…right after waking up.

yoga.lovetoknow.com tells us …

The spiritual implication behind the pose lies in the act of a combined stretch with a moment in which the yogi turns inward. Simultaneously connecting to your center while stretching your body into a long line has a unifying effect positioning your spirit within while you stay connected to the outside world.
